The Yellow Elder is the national tree of The Bahamas. It blooms for three weeks around Easter – just before the heat of the summer arrives. You can always tell when Winter has become Spring by its arrival. The bright yellow blossoms are visible all over the island. This tree is planted just outside the front wall of Pytchley House. I rescued it after a hurricane blew it down in 2012 and it was left to rot on the side of the road in Nassau.
